“Splinter” is a multi-percussion piece written for 5 pieces of wood. The performer has the ability to choose their wooden instruments to develop their own sound. The piece is separated into three different sections. The beginning is a moderate tempo, with each wooden piece and/or rhythm given it’s own character. The middle section builds in speed and almost has a groove that gets interjected. Finally, the piece ends by revisiting the beginning, developing the material a little more until the final build up and release at the end of the piece.
